Public Speaking Anxiety: Coaching for Executives

Public Speaking Anxiety: Coaching for Executives
Stage Fright

Let Your Expertise Come Through

You know your subject. You carry responsibility. People rely on your judgment.

Then an important presentation approaches, and your attention shifts toward everything that could go wrong: losing your place, speaking too quickly, facing a challenging question, or appearing less confident than you feel in your everyday work.

I support executives, business owners, and senior professionals in preparing for these moments.

We work on the presentation itself and on how you handle the pressure around it. The aim is to help you communicate your expertise with greater clarity, composure, and flexibility.

Start with Your Actual Speaking Situation

A board presentation calls for different preparation from a conference keynote. An investor meeting differs from an internal announcement or a demanding question-and-answer session.

We begin with the situation ahead:

  • Who will be listening?

  • What do they need to understand or decide?

  • What is at stake for you?

  • Which part of the appearance concerns you most?

  • What would a useful outcome look like?

You may feel comfortable explaining technical details and find the opening difficult. You may speak confidently with clients and feel exposed in front of senior colleagues. Your preparation should reflect those differences.

Build a Presentation You Can Rely On

A clear structure gives you a practical reference point when attention is under pressure.

Together, we can develop:

  • A concise central message.

  • An opening that establishes purpose and relevance.

  • A logical sequence of ideas.

  • Examples that demonstrate your experience.

  • Transitions that help you find your place.

  • A clear conclusion and next step.

We also consider how slides and speaker notes can support your delivery.

The goal is a presentation you understand well enough to explain naturally and adapt to the room.

Rehearse the Moments That Matter Most

Useful rehearsal goes beyond reading through a finished script.

We can work specifically on entering the room, delivering the opening, moving between sections, handling an interruption, or responding to a difficult question.

You practice aloud and receive focused feedback. We adjust one element at a time, then repeat the relevant passage.

For example, we might shorten an opening that is difficult to deliver, simplify a transition, or prepare a more direct answer to a predictable objection.

Each rehearsal has a clear purpose.

Develop a Practical Routine for the Moment

Preparation also includes how you approach the minutes before speaking and the first moments in front of your audience.

We can explore a routine that fits you: arriving with enough time, checking the setup, organizing your notes, allowing pauses, and directing your attention toward the people you are addressing.

During rehearsal, we look at pace, voice, posture, and where you place your attention. You can then assess which adjustments help you communicate more effectively.

Composure becomes something you practice through specific actions.

Prepare for Questions and Recover Your Thread

An interruption or unexpected question can become easier to handle when you have rehearsed your options.

We can practice how to:

  • Pause and clarify what someone is asking.

  • Give the direct answer before adding detail.

  • Separate established facts from points requiring further review.

  • Return to your central message.

  • Use your notes to recover your place.

  • Agree on a follow-up when further information is needed.

A useful phrase might be:

“Let me return to the central point.”

Or:

“There are two parts to that question. I’ll address the commercial implications first.”

The wording should fit your voice and the professional setting.

Use Feedback to Build a More Accurate Picture

How a presentation feels from the inside can differ from how it comes across.

Specific feedback helps you examine what the audience can actually hear and see: the clarity of your explanation, your pace, your pauses, and the way you respond to questions.

Where useful and agreed, we can use a recording to review selected passages together.

We identify strengths worth keeping and changes that deserve attention. This gives you concrete priorities for further practice.

Choose the Support That Fits Your Needs

This coaching focuses on professional speaking situations, preparation, and communication under pressure.

If your concerns call for clinical assessment or treatment, we can clarify the appropriate route. Information about my separate English-language therapy practice is available at berlin-hypnosis.com.

For broader work on your message, structure, delivery, and audience impact, see Executive Presentation & Speech Coaching.

How We Work Together

You work directly with me in a confidential one-to-one setting, in Berlin or online.

Bring the speaking situation you want to prepare for. A draft, slide deck, or outline can be useful. If you are at an earlier stage, we can begin with your audience, purpose, and central message.

The scope depends on the assignment, your starting point, and the time available. We agree on any review of materials outside the session in advance.

Current fees and booking information are available on the Pricing page.

Prepare for Your Next Presentation

Use the form below or email mail@karstennoack.com.

Briefly describe your role, the upcoming speaking situation, and what you would most like to improve. Include the event date, the presentation language, and your preferred session format.

That gives us a clear starting point for considering suitable support.

Preparing Important Speeches and Presentations

The Art of Effective Communication

Those who do not speak are not heard, and even those who do speak are not always successful. True success in communication requires mastering a few additional, critical steps to ensure your message resonates.

Make Your Message Shine

Do you want your message to be convincing and your personality to shine? I can help you prepare your speeches and presentations to achieve exactly that. Whether you need comprehensive guidance or just a few tweaks, you decide the level of support that fits your needs. At a minimum, I recommend a test run with professional feedback to fine-tune both your delivery and your content. This helps you understand how you and your message are perceived, identify what works well, and determine areas for improvement.

Why Wait for Feedback?

Why wait until after your real performance to receive valuable feedback, when it's too late to adjust? Early preparation is key. As the saying goes: 'Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.' With thorough preparation, you will not only feel more confident but will also be well-equipped to make a lasting impact.

Tailored Support to Fit Your Goals

You can decide where the effort is most worthwhile, based on the expected benefits. I offer support covering all areas of effective communication, including psychology, language, structure, voice, body language, storytelling, rhetorical techniques, and the use of media like PowerPoint. My goal is to help you deliver a well-rounded, impactful presentation.

Flexible Meeting Options

Not in Berlin? No problem. We can meet via telephone or video call. Of course, visiting Berlin can also be an enriching experience, and I am happy to welcome you here.

Overcome Stage Fright

Many people struggle with intense stage fright, which can cause their performance to fall short of its true potential. With my guidance, you can overcome these challenges and deliver your best possible performance. Together, we'll turn anxiety into confidence, ensuring that your message and personality shine through.
