Recommendations for Winning Interviews

Let's give you some suggestions for your winning interview:

Know the skills
It's best to prepare yourself
well for interviews before you are even invited to one.
Learn the skills and ask a professional for assistance.

Prepare
Being prepared means to know your subject, the audience, the journalist, the media and their goals for the interview and much more.
You have to know yourself; your values, your motivation, your goals and how your self image fits to how others see and hear you.

Rehearse
Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse! Practice the most difficult and uncomfortable situations which could occur during the interview.
Find appropriate answers to tricky questions before being put on the spot in the real life situation.
Practice, practice, practice.
Then you’ll know what you want to say and how to say it.
Immediate feedback from a professional is invaluable to improving.

Pause
Stop and think before you speak.
A second or two seems like an eternity to the untrained speaker, but the audience really welcomes a chance to think about what’s just been said. Thinking in this context doesn't mean that you have to formulate word by word but keep the goal in mind together with the way you want to reach it.
Remain quiet during any pauses.
All those "uh", "um", "You know..." aren't helpful when you fill the pauses with them.

Know when to remain silent
It's good to know when it is better not to respond to a question or even an attack.
Learn how to stay calm and to answer what and how you want to.
There are professional ways to avoid an answer when you don't want to talk about something.

Practice a positive body language
Present an authentic body language with an open body position.
Body language is definitely something to work on beforehand and not in a real situation because most people tend to appear artificial when they try to control their body language consciously.

Maintain eye contact
No one can trust your professionalism or warm to your personality if your eyes wander all over the place and are not focused on your audience.

Inform
Speak when you have something to say!
Don’t take the trouble to say anything if you have nothing to say.
Don’t speak “off the record.”

You never know who is listening.
As a golden rule; i
f you don’t want to read it in print, hear it on the radio, or watch it repeated on television, don’t say it.

Be honest and authentic
If it is necessary, then be willing to acknowledge a problem’s existence.
Be willing to admit you don’t have all the answers.

Be positive
Instead of using negative words like "don’t" or "won’t" it is better to tell us what is.
Tell us what will be
and how we achieve it instead of why something is not possible.

Be simple
Get rid of jargon. Stop delivering literature and deliver conversation.

Speak the language that is understood by your audience and that is also in your personal comfort zone.

Be memorable
To be memorable use stories, anecdotes, examples, similes, and metaphors.
Personalize
your examples for your audience and bring audience into your message.
Let your message come to life in the minds of your audience
